UNIDIR report on Somalia draws heavily on ISACS

As previously reported, UNIDIR co-organised a workshop on weapons and ammunition management in Somalia in January 2014 in cooperation with the Federal Government of Somalia, UNSOM, UNMAS and UNDP.

UNIDIR has published a report of the workshop that sets out in detail the work being carried out by the Federal Government with support from the United Nations and implementing organisations.  UNIDIR launched the report at a side event during the 5th Biennial Meeting of States to consider implementation of the UN Programme of Action against the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons.

The UNIDIR report draws heavily on ISACS and uses the standards to assess progress made and to identify priority areas for future work on weapons and ammunition management in Somalia.
